Do these look like they would be in an old building?

Usually you don't even bother with a sun, it's just something that doesn't add a whole lot of value to your track. It's the case with fire, gotta just imply it. Just go cartoony or draw a circle in the sky and hopefully everything else in the track makes it seem like a sun and not a moon.
I guess. You should spend more time on the shapes of the things in the building.

Doesn't solely pertain to this game.

Not for anyone specifically but everyone knows what's up lol, or at least people who make big stuff know. Drop any copying, mimicking, tracing, etc. stuff that's not yours. Or be able to steal it(basically take something and 1 up it to be your own; doing everything bigger and better to a point where it becomes your own). If you've stopped with it or plan to then just rationalize it as your learning curve stuff lol.

If you still do this, no matter what you'll never best the original, whatever original that is. You'll never get the recognition you could have, you're only seriously stunting yourself.

There's so much I wanna say on this whole thing, even for people who are on the opposite end. Such as taking too much credit for their stuff at times. If you feel like you're being copied just relax in the fact whoever is trying to copy you can't trump you. Just accept it as a compliment, people only copy your stuff because they realize your stuff has value and provides them with the confidence and assurance if they were to follow it. It'd be worse if you had a completely unique style but it influences no one.

A realistic pond/ small lake. It's sorta being looked at diagonally. Like 60 degrees

I have always been more of a trial maker, but I am interested in starting to detail on a higher level. Any starting advice?

Look at the water in this track.
      https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/269042-garden-gypsies-reprise
Start with a base direction the water is moving.
You want to add some depth and shading on the inside to add texture.
Add small droplets and sprinkles underneath the main spout to give a sense of movement.
As you get near the end of the water spout start to descend the movement. Add downward strokes gradually.
Hope this helps in the meantime

Yes, but I would like to learn more about how to do background detailing. Usually smooth tracks get many more plays (leads to more likes) because the noobs can complete it
