I was just doing that about an hour ago. Just not solving for x =/

You don't solve for x, just say what x cannot equal.

Well if you solve for x. Anything besides that answer would not equal x, right?

No, the right denominator would not equal -5 because it is opposite of 5. If x = -5 then the denominator would = 0. If you know what I mean.

    Ok, so you start with:
    (3^rt(15x))/(3^rt(12y))
but this can be written as
    ((15x)^1/3)/((12y)^1/3)
so you multiply this by, to remove the 3^rt from the base
    ((12y)^2/3)/((12y)^2/3)
    so you get
    (((15x)^1/3)((12y)^2/3))/12y
on the top line take 3 out the front
    ((3^1/3)(3^2/3)((5x)^1/3)((4y)^2/3))/12y
    (3^1/3)(3^2/3) = 3
cancel the 3 from the 12y
    ((5x)^1/3)((4y)^2/3))/4y
    this equals
    (3^rt(5x*16*y^2))/4y
16 is 8*2 the 3^rt 8 is 2 so you can take 2 out the front then cancel from the 4y so you end up with
    (3^rt(10xy^2))/2y
    which is what you had.

And yours spruce is nice and easy.
    2x+4 . 12x-12
    3x-3 x+5

    2(x+2) . 12(x-1)
    3(x-1) x+5

    8
    24(x+2)
    3(x+5)

    8(x+2)
    x+5

    therefore x =/ -5
