Will post more later. Here's a couple basics, most of these are from my iphone. I need to dig later and find my lightning and star trail pics. I only found one. And sorry the last pic is so big, i couldn't upload it to postimage because the file size was too big and the other hosting site i used didn't have a downsize option

I've always wondered, how do you take photos of stars like the fourth one?

set the frame rate low so that u capture the low amount of light, but if u wanna get stars like on Crypts photos put it super super low... cause if not, u'll just get little lines that look like crap

Long exposure photography. This is the reason star trail pics usually look a bit like day, because the camera is accepting all light sources it can perceive for as long as the shutter is open. You need to set your camera down somewhere where it won't move or just use a tripod and aim it where you want, then you can either take a bunch of 30 second exposure shots and mash them together later or you can let the camera go for a long time and just get it all in one shot (which is harder because if any light gets in front of the camera or if something moves, the shot is ruined)

You're going to want to buy a shutter remote too which replaces the need to hold down the button, as you will need to hold it down the entire time when you are taking the pic. The shutter remote locks so you can just leave it for the desired amount of time.

Yep, same process, only you can do that one anywhere and star trails usually require less light pollution

I've got some from a hiking trip in New Mexico. I just take pictures for fun on some crap camera, but Some of them turn out well. What do you think? (BTW I took these as a 15 year old last Summer)

I have many, many more that are even better than these, but I can't put too many in this thread. You should be able to look at them all here: Philmont, New Mexico Pictures

      Thanks for taking a look!

so pleased with this pic. turned out just right, the northern lights were so bright that this only needed a 20-25 second exposure? something like that, I'm not exactly sure but it was super windy, so I'm surprised that the pic isnt blurry
