I'm sure some of you have noticed the database's most recent incredibly popular track, and like times in the past, it is not the best track. I am of course talking about Giveaway Iphone 6 by Eri0n . The track is clearly mediocre, so why is it attracting this many likes? Well, it's because the author is offering everyone who likes the track and then comments that they did indeed +1 the track a chance at winning a free iPhone 6. If you're like me, then you're definitely thinking that A: this is WAY too good to be true and B: this sounds like a diabolical scam to attract likes and attention. Scamming likes and attention off of kids that think they have a chance of winning something expensive is stooping pretty low. I don't want this to become a trend among users, so I am addressing this now.
What evidence do I have that this offer is a scam? Well, I don't have any. Just some average human suspicions when it comes to something that seems too good to be true. 1: This is coming from a user on an online bike game with a relatively small fan base. This game doesn't attract enough attention to have a legitimate free giveaway for something so expensive. 2: Free giveaways are almost always scams. 3: The average age of a user on this game I'm going to guess is not old enough to live on their own. Therefore, to perform a free giveaway, the user would have to get permission from their parents to first purchase an expensive item and then send it on its way to the winner of the giveaway. That simply does not happen in the modern-day world. Parents do not waste hundreds of dollars on something like this. 4: To successfully get the iPhone to someone, the author will have to obtain the winner's address. It is taught in many internet-safety classes nowadays that giving away any personal information (including your house address) is incredibly dangerous. 5: The author in question has posted another attention-seeking track entitled Bye!. This leads me to believe that the user wants attention and would do something like create a fake giveaway to attract attention to themselves. All that being said, if this is a legitimate giveaway, kudos to the author for following through. However, that does not mean that something like this should be allowed.
Why is this wrong? Other than the scamming part that I have already addressed, there are many things wrong with this track. For one, it expands the author's ego. But also think of the potential consequences of allowing these type of actions to go on. This track currently owns the second place on trending after 23 hours of existing on the database. That means it has passed two featured tracks and another very well made track by WyattStonhouse . Everyone on these forums I think believes that all three of those deserve to be higher up on trending than this piece of trash. On top of this, what do you think kids will think when they see that this is OK? 'Oh, look at that. He is making a scam track but is getting a lot of likes and attention! I should do that too, and I won't get any form of punishment! Only attention and fame!' This will set a precedent of terrible, attention-seeking scam tracks like this, regardless if this track really is a scam or not. And kids will think this is ok unless there is some sort of punishment for this. That makes sure that the kids get the message that this isn't ok and that to obtain likes and fame, you have to earn it, not scam it.
I beg Char and Eric to see this and take into account what I have said. Please Stig and Max007x , do not delete this thread. If you must take any sort of action against this thread, please lock it. We need this message to get out that this is wrong.

People should be able to do what they want tbh, as long as it's not breaking any rules. So if they wanna fish for likes, then so be it. Them getting likes from "giveaways", doesn't affect anyone else in any way so none of us should really care lol. And I don't think there are too many kids that are gullible enough to fall for it. Almost every kid these days has a phone, so they probably either don't care/or they're just liking for the hell of it and that's none of our business if it's not breaking the rules imo. But I'll still say no on the vote.

But it disturbs amazing tracks from getting on trending, so it does affect good track makers.

Honestly, likes don't matter. The track could be phenominal and be rated poorly by noobs. It really should just depend on the quality of the track, but sadly it doesn't seem to anymore.

the solution is to cost more money to publish tracks. I remember when a track was published every hour.

I don't like how that happens but that's how it unfortunately works on the db now days. You can't change what people think, you just have to hope that people view/share/like it without asking for them.

trending will never be that great bc most of the good authors are not making their tracks for likes but most of the noobs are making their tracks for likes
