What makes games fun? Sometimes is simple things sometimes its ridiculously high quality ideas. Well here's one that I think would benefit the growth of free rider HD! I believe if we could add simple objects to the game that move would actually result in something much more incredible! People could start adding things like falling objects like rand chunks of debris or perhaps you are creative and want to build an Indiana Jones type map where giant boulders can chase you. This is just an idea but I am positive FRHD would benefit from it! Please leave your thoughts and comments. Thanks for reading
I think that it is a creative idea, which would add another angle to the gameplay, but it may get a bit repetitive after a while. Overall though, I think that it would be a fun challenge to include it in tracks. When I first saw the thread title, I thought that you meant moveable objects in the editor, which I think is a great idea. Often when I am making tracks, I want to add a new section in between sections I have already made, and I end up erasing lots of work, before re-drawing it. I think that it would be cool to be able to select an area on the editor, and move it around, or delete it all at once, to save rubbing out for ages. I have no idea how hard it would be to make this though, so I don't know how effective it would be.
true but i figured if there is premade boulders like say the size of the bikes wheel or about the size of the rider and you can add it to the map from like say a list of objects you can add like a small tree you would have to ramp over or something of that effect. try and think of it as the object selector on Halo 4 or reach. if there was a way to add simple objects that actually move when you ride in to it or on it would be cool. or to just have a start place for the boulder and a end point for which it to follow your track to a certain point and then disappear once it passes it's own end point and small stuff like that.
happy wheels was ok the first time i played it after that it just got boring. but pretty much a concept i guess based from that and halo 4 an reach lol
This is an idea of mR..A. So don't give me credit for it! Anyway, give this a read! I have no idea how difficult it would be to implement these ideas, but i think it'd be awesome to come across obstacles like these in a trial. Things like spring loaded platforms to add upward motion to a bounce.. things like retreating walls to add pressure whilst shimmying though.. Things like trap doors or collapsible platforms, as you hit them they drop sending you to another area.. or even swinging rope making the journey more difficult as you travel across a mountainous track etc.. Not sure if any of this is possible, but I think at some point in the future this could add a whole new element of motion to the game.. would sure make ghosting a whole lot more interesting. Opinions?? MY OPINION (not mR..A anymore): If something in this game should move, it should NOT have its own physics (like the rider) but instead it should be moved by something (like the spring). edit: again, all credit goes to mR..A, so go like his posts (just some random ones), not mine!!!
I think that this is a great idea, but have no idea how you could control what would happen whilst using the editor. Maybe there could be a new powerup arrow type that can be made longer, to show motion of a selected line? I also agree that it could add a whole new angle to the game, especially with mazes and tracks with multiple routes.
I think a spring platform should bounce with an editable strength when touched. (the other ideas aren't as cool as the spring one )
Would the force of the spring board depend on how hard the rider hits it? So if the rider has been falling a long way, there would be a larger bounce.
I just thought: what would happen if a spring board was curved? Would the rider bounce off it doing flips or something?
No! Not at all! Then it wouldn't be editable, would it? I was thinking of it opening a screen, when you add the spring, where you can pick a strength/speed/length for the spring you like the most. It could look something like this:
They should find out. This should be for official authors only because they're less likely to make some bullsh*t troll track with these.
The spring should have an option to switch between visibility and invisibility, so pleople who detail tracks don't have to worry about stupid stuff like that. The spring would also be drawn like a normal line between the platform and the soil it's attached to. It could only be attached to physics lines.
this is the exact reason my scale stopped at 420. any bigger force would kill the rider! also tracks like this one u drew are the reason this would only be for official authors!
